Tom Tower, Christ Church

The Tower is a slightly later addition to the rest of the college, originally founded by Cardinal Wolsey as "Cardinal's College". It houses Tom Bell, the old Curfew bell that still rings 101 times at 5 past 9 each evening (Oxford Time, to the West of Greenwich).

101 marks the original number of students of the college. To put it in context, the largest colleges (except Westminster) have around 600 students at the present day, Christ Church around 450. Round the corner along the High we can approach Brasenose College.

Brasenose College is the next stop.
